When is your deadline for applications?

The deadline for applications, transcripts, and recommendations  for the Class of 2013 (begins in April 2011) enrollment is October 7, 2010.

NOTE:  The program welcomes applications or inquiries twelve months a year.  Interviews are held several times a year.  Candidates interested in a early admission seat should contact the NAP office for more information.

What types of critical care experience are accepted? Which are preferred?

All critical care experience must be as an RN.  Emphasis is placed on knowledge of invasive hemodynamic monitoring, pharmacological management of vasoactive drugs, and ventilator management.  The preferred acute care areas are (in order of preference):

  1. CVU (Cardiovascular unit- Post operative cardiac patients)
  2. CCU (Critical Coronary/Cardiac Care)
  3. SICU (Surgical Intensive Care)
  4. MICU (Medical Intensive Care)
  5. NICU ( Neurological Intensive Care)
  6. PICU/NICU (Pediatric or Neonatal Intensive Care)
  7. Applicants, whose primary experience is in the Emergency Room, Interventional Radiology, and PACU, have also been accepted, provided that applicant can demonstrate familiarity with invasive monitoring, ventilators, and critical care pharmacology.

What if I do not have two years of critical care experience?

The OLLMC NAP requirement is that the candidate must possess at least two years of acute care experience.  If you will have completed a minimum of 2 years prior to the start date (April of any given year) you may be eligible for a personal interview.

What if I do not have my bachelor’s degree yet?

The AANA requirement is that the candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in order to gain entry to a nurse anesthesia program.  If you will have completed a your bachelor’s degree prior to the start date (April of any given year) you may be eligible for a personal interview.

Which bachelor's degrees do you accept other than a Bachelor of Science in Nursing?

Our academic affiliate, Drexel University, requires all students enrolled in the College of Nursing to possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) to maintain accreditation regulations. To meet university admission requirements a “non- nursing bachelor’s degree” must be converted to a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN). This is accomplished by successfully completing a one-time 3 credit “bridge course" prior to the start of the program. Please call the NAP office for more information at 856.757.3897

Possession of a RN license is a mandatory requirement for entry into the program.

What if my undergraduate degree was earned in a foreign country?

   International students must submit an official copy of the World Education Service (WES) transcripts with the admission application. Our academic affiliate, Drexel University, reserves the right to determine enrollment eligibility of all international students.

What is the minimum score required for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE)?

GREs are not required for admission to this program. If you wish to  include your GRE results in your application portfolio, please forwrd your GRE results to:

How long is the program?

The 27-month program is full time and 93 quarter credits (equivalent to 70 semester credits). We do not offer a part time equivalent.

How many students are accepted each year?

The Lourdes NAP interviews for 15-25 seats per class.

What is my time commitment to the program?

The average number of hours students must commit to the program is 65 hours per week. This includes classroom and clinical hours (clinical shifts include evenings, nights, and weekends). Study time is NOT included in the 65 hours time frame. 

            Students are strongly encouraged NOT to work while enrolled in the program.

What is the cost of the program?

The current total tuition cost of the program is approximately $65,565.00 ($705.00/ credit). Financial aid is available for most candidates through Drexel University. 

How do I apply to the program?

What if I am an international student?

International students applying to the program are NOT eligible for an F-1 or J-1 visa to attend the program. International students must have legal residence via TN visa, family sponsorship, or green card/permanent legal resident card. Please call the office at 856.757.3730 for more information.

 

Who do I ask for a personal reference?

References should be  written within the past year and should attest to you critical care knowledge and skills. You are welcome to ask anyone for a personal reference, however, the Admissions Committee prefers references from:

      1) Supervisors or Nurse Managers

       2) Physician or APN Colleagues

       3) Instructors/Advisers from Undergraduate Training

Personal references MUST be submitted on the OLLMC Admission Reference form  (located on the enroll page) and mailed directly to the program office or may be submitted with the application in a sealed envelope with person's signature across the seal.

What if I am accepted and I am relocating to New Jersey?

Relocation packets are available from the NAP office which provides information on housing opportunities in nearby communities.  All didactic and clinical coursework is completed in southern New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  Please call the NAP office for more information @ 856.757.3841
